Always hang your Horseshoe “UP” so the luck won’t run out!
The Legend of the Horseshoe
Considered the most universal of all good luck charms, the horseshoe has been a powerful amulet in every age and country where the horse has existed. The Greeks considered the horseshoe to be a symbol of good fortune because it was made of iron (an element believed to ward off evil) and because it took the shape of a crescent moon (a symbol of fertility and good fortune.) In the Middle Ages, people believed a horseshoe warded off a witch the way a crucifix warded off a vampire. They also believed a horseshoe hung above the door or used as a doorknocker would keep satin away. Legend dictates that the horseshoe be posted with the points upward, so the luck wouldn’t drain out.
